Overview
A Lead Linguist assists project managers in managing and maintaining the language quality of products, compiles and maintains project style guides, glossaries, and other language assets, supports the selection and growth of project team members, and actively participates in project management and communication.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Linguistic Asset creation and maintenance
- Collect and maintain specific requirements, client preferences, error examples, etc., manage and help to fix consistency issues and promptly communicate them to team members
- Create and maintain glossary
- Create and maintain style guide
Team management
- Evaluate candidates’ abilities and qualifications, helping project manager select qualified linguists
- Train new team members, provide coaching and support for team members’ growth, and ensure quality requirements are met
Processes
- Answer queries from team members
- Execute LQI (Language Quality Inspection) and address the linguist’s rebuttal as instructed by the project manager
- Host or participate in internal and external meetings on language feedback, quality trends, areas for improvement, etc.
- Provide timely feedback to project managers on issues within the team and assist in developing solutions
- Collaborate with QA and project managers to analyze quality issues and assist in completing RCA-PA (Root Cause Analysis – Preventive Action)
Requirements:
Education background & Major
- Bachelor or above degree, preferably in translation, proofreading, or language studies.
Experience
- Over 3 years of translation experience in related fields, over 2 years of proofreading experience in related fields, or over 1 year of Lead Linguist quality management experience.
- Proven experience in quality management
Knowledge & Skill
- Native in Japanese, full proficiency in Chinese
- Good proficiency in English is preferred
- Background in translation, proofreading, or language studies preferred
- Familiarity with game-related requirements and strong knowledge of gaming terminology and culture
- Attention to detail and focus on quality
- Excellent translation and editing skills
- Experience of active participation in client review meetings
- Able to work independently with strong self-motivation
- Great communication skills, both verbal and written, with exceptional fluency in Chinese or English
- Excellent people and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience of leading teams through complex projects
- Excellent accuracy skills

What’s on offer:
- Attractive salary: 400,000-500,000 yen/month
- Transportation allowance (up to 160 USD per month).

- Working hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm, 8h per day.
